Presentation

Alto Minho FIRECAMP is a biennial event promoted by the Alto Minho Intermunicipal Community, which began in 2013 as part of the Protec | Georisk operation, co-financed by ON2 - O Novo Norte.

 

In 2015, the 2nd edition was co-financed by POCTEP - Spain-Portugal Transboundary Cooperation Program. The 3rd edition took place in 2017 under POSEUR.

 

Today, Alto Minho FIRECAMP is a national landmark dedicated to the forest fires paradigm, in the context of the problem of risks and climate change, constituting a space for debate of excellence, where operational from the various combat and prevention units, technicians and policy makers from different countries to exchange knowledge and techniques.

In this context, the intensity and frequency of forest fires in the territories of Southern Europe, like other regions of the globe, which has been increasing significantly in the last two decades, is currently one of the main factors of territorial vulnerability in the context of climate change and current ecological and social dynamics.

 

Alto Minho FIRECAMP 2019 is an action of the ARIEM PLUS project - Interregional Reciprocal Assistance in Emergencies and Transboundary Risks, promoted by CIM Alto Minho and will follow the format of previous editions, consisting of 2 days dedicated to what is best done in research, in prevention and firefighting activities, focusing on the use of fire and climate change.

 

This 4th edition of ALTOMINHO FIRECAMP has the participation of speakers from different nationalities (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Israel, Mexico, Brazil and Ecuador), internationally renowned in the various fields.
